teddy bears & men

These were taken on a day out in Santiniketan at the "Poush Mela," which is basically the winter carnival. It was a random but hilarious display as these old men were packing away fluorescent teddy bears. There's something about hard labourers working with playful, innocent, childish objects, which creates a comical contrast. I love everything that deconstructs the foundations of masculinity, especially in India where that masculinity is often very toxic. I was fascinated to see teddy bears in the arms of men who are conditioned to not display any softness.

It's a societal problem that requires working as a collective to break down the need for men to be men.
