The painting above was made by me around age eight when I lived in Singapore, and is acrylic on canvas, (2002). The original is in colour. I began painting before I really understood what it was, because I was drawn to wanting to create images. I also found it more enjoyable than being in school most of the time, and so I would take classes after school.

 

Aside from being therapeutic, I often find painting is a great starting point for conceptualising projects, whether that is writing or film. It allows for expression that breaks free from structure and logic, and is a two-dimensional medium that is, for me, about self-discovery.

 

Below are some of the paintings, details included, that I've completed over the years in and out of school. They are not in chronological order. All of my paintings are available to view on request.
